I first experienced banger racing back in the 80’s. The screech of tyres, brake fluid vapour and burst radiators swept past me again and again until a victor emerged from a wreck clutching a trophy.
In the 1960’s bangers and hotrod clans from the UK and Netherlands, grew from the shadows of Nascar racing in America. Nothing about the rules has changed, the nudges and head-on wallops are still part of the show.
